Craniosacral Therapy

One of Heidi’s early and continuing educational passions has been Craniosacral Therapy. She has found, in more deeply studying the cranisacral and fascial systems, that the health of these systems impact the health of every system in our bodies. Heidi continues to pursue knowledge of these modalities, because she has found that she has been able to use the therapies as both diagnostic and healing tools. Results from Craniosacral Therapy can have a profound impact on all types of people: children, adults, men, women, and all those who want to feel healthier. Heidi has studied the therapeutic approaches of both John Upledger (www.upledgerinstitute.com)
and Barry Gillespie (www.brain-therapy.com).

Pediatric Massage

Heidi has always loved working with kids, as a coach, swim instructor, mentor, and designer/ instructor for the children’s drama camp at People’s Light and Theatre Company. She is especially interested in expanding her practice to include more children with challenges, such as kids with PDD, autism, asthma; children that have experienced acute physical trauma; infants with colic and earaches, kids with anxiety & learning issues, and newborns/infants with birth trauma. Heidi has seen amazing results in her work with kids, especially with the extremely gentle and soothing craniosacral work; she has found massage can be an effective drug-free option addressing many childhood conditions. See Kinderssage for more information.

Prenatal and postpartum massage

Another one of Heidi’s specific interests is working on moms-to-be and postpartum women, for which she trained with Elaine Stillerman, the pre-eminent therapist and teacher of maternity massage. In her own practice, Heidi has found that her clients find relief from many typical pregnancy complaints, such as sore backs, leg cramps, swollen feet and legs, carpal tunnel dysfunction, and general stress, through gentle and careful therapy. Heidi finds its very rewarding to positively impacts both mother and child, as this is such a momentous time in the woman’s and child’s life.

Massage

Heidi’s belief that massage can help her clients achieve their physical and emotional goals plays a large part in her Swedish massage techniques and her focused deep tissue massage. Her objective is to facilitate the body to move forward along its own path to healing whether that be through stress relief and deep relaxation, gentle manipulation, or directed muscle treatment. She has found for herself, and for her clients, that physical well-being can lead to overall well-being.
